It was already clear to me during my midwifery training that I wanted to support families(-to-be) as holistically as possible and in a calm, loving and protective atmosphere in which they are given the necessary time and space to embark on and immerse themselves in the great miracle of childbirth and the special phase before and after the birth.

Here at the birthing centre, I have found precisely this atmosphere and the valuable space that families need. I am very grateful to be part of it.

After many years of overseeing home births, I now work at Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland out of a strong sense of conviction. It is crucial to me that I can already support the couple during the pregnancy, make contact with their child and strengthen their abilities and their confidence that they are up to the task of parenthood.

I came to know and appreciate the birthing centre in 2002 when one of my two children was born here. It was already obvious to me then just how much love and care had gone into the cooking, and this enabled me to return to my daily life as a new mum refreshed and strengthened.

I now cook for new families at the birthing centre myself. I do so mindfully and with a great deal of joy and imagination. For me, the birthing centre is a wonderful place in which I am able to pursue my passion for cooking and make other people happy.

As a midwife, I always focus on the couple and above all on the mother and child. It is very important to me to have time and space for questions, suggestions and support during the pregnancy. When a woman arrives to give birth here, I am able to concentrate on her exclusively. This close and continuous support helps the parents’ trust in me and the birth process to grow.

Watching the family grow together and recuperate during the period after the birth, whether that took place at home, at a hospital or here, is a wonderful conclusion to the shared time for me.

I encounter the parents-to-be regularly, in the office and above all at reception, from the first antenatal check-up right through to the point at which they leave the birthing centre as a family. It is hugely rewarding for me to be able to share in this experience and see their overjoyed, proud faces when they go home with their baby.

I am very glad that I am able to be part of the birthing centre and support it with my office work.

I was already fascinated by cooking as a child, and was even allowed to prepare dishes on the wood-burning stove of my grandma Emma, who was born in 1899. A professional chef at the Olivenbaum restaurant in Zurich, she had a big influence on my passion for cooking.

I got to know and value the exquisite birthing centre cuisine through my own two births.

The meals here are tailored to the needs of the families post-childbirth, and I cook with a great deal of passion, using high-quality spices and wonderful organic seasonal products from the local region. I am grateful for the opportunity to work at the birthing centre, where the women are helped to have natural births.

For me, being a midwife is about offering women, couples and families holistic care from the beginning of the pregnancy through to the postnatal period, supporting them in their wishes and reinforcing their confidence in the natural course of events.

At Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland, I enjoy having the time I need to provide this comprehensive care and being able to experience, over and over again, all the wonderful things that nature can do if left to its own devices.

I feel very lucky to be part of Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland. Being active throughout the care cycle in an appreciative team is a hugely satisfying experience. I also love the highly varied work, be it supporting couples during the pregnancy, experiencing the miracle of childbirth together or helping the brand new family to get off to the best possible start.

I never cease to be impressed by the power of the female body, and this is precisely what we enable to unfold at the birthing centre, in a safe setting. We allow nature to do its work, all the while observing attentively and providing support where needed. It is a miracle that I find deeply fulfilling, over and over again.

As I had already been giving postnatal exercise courses at Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland for some time, I was familiar with the birthing centre. I am very happy to be employed here as a midwife now. The individual and holistic care we offer to families and the time and peaceful atmosphere we afford them during the postnatal period are consistent with my ideas about the midwifery profession. I also very much like working together with the team here. The atmosphere of appreciation and acceptance are also hugely important to me.

Childbirth is a miracle, every single time it happens. I am so glad to be able to assist parents and their child on this journey.

Natural processes and individuality are supported as much as possible at the birthing centre. The midwives work according to the latest knowledge, take regular training courses and contribute with their wealth of experience. I love being able to provide a family with holistic care at the birthing centre. My goal is to enable women to experience pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period with a sense of security and protection while being fully informed at all times.

What I particularly like about working in Bäretswil is that the birthing centre covers the entire care cycle from the start of the pregnancy through to the postnatal period. I can support families throughout the process here, thereby making full use of the wide range of possibilities my profession has to offer.

As midwives at the birthing centre, we complement one another ideally by sharing and passing on our specialist knowledge.

The provision of holistic support to families during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period is a matter of immense importance to me. It is great that families are also welcome to come to Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland after a home or hospital birth. I would like to help women and their families to trust in their own abilities so they can embark on this new phase of life with renewed strength. Being present during such unforgettable moments at the birthing centre is a great honour for me and something I am very grateful for.

I have already had the privilege of working as a midwife at various institutions and deepening my knowledge on the topics of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. My three children have also given me valuable experience for my profession. Having the opportunity to work at a location at which all the fields of activity come together is very enriching for me. I particularly appreciate the fact that tried-and-tested midwifery skills, naturopathy and evidence-based science are all used at the birthing centre, with the goal always being to support the families holistically and safely through this unique time. I am very grateful that my working model at Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland enables me to combine my beloved profession with my family life.

Providing holistic care at the birthing centre during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period fills me with joy. I greatly value my relationship with the families-to-be (and those that are expanding). Mutual trust and close collaboration between the pregnant woman, the father, the newborn baby and the midwives are a matter of course, here. So many wonderful, unique moments arise. Being able to experience day in, day out what nature is capable of is such a privilege.

I have been happily employed as a midwife at Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland since summer 2019.

It was already clear to me early on during my midwife training that I wanted to contribute to the field of natural obstetrics. When I got to know the birthing centre and its working methods, philosophy and team during a work placement, I knew straight away that I wanted to work here.

It is hugely fulfilling for me that I am able to support the parents-to-be throughout the pregnancy, birth, postnatal and nursing periods at the birthing centre and promote and reinforce the natural processes with proven midwifery expertise.

It is a great privilege for me to be able to support people in the process of becoming parents and reaffirm them in their self-empowerment and personal intuition. At the birthing centre, we have the necessary space and time to allow these transformations to happen as naturally as possible. The care cycle from pregnancy to follow-up care enables me as a midwife to experience a holistic professional field, which gives me great joy and satisfaction.

During the births of my own three children and the restful postnatal stays I had here at Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland, I was able to experience and enjoy the midwives’ professional work at first hand.

This makes me even more happy that I am now able to work at the birthing centre and be part of this wonderful team myself. I had three of my four children at Geburtshaus Zürcher Oberland and was able to experience the excellent care that the midwives here provide. I gave birth naturally at my own pace and without any interventions. It is important to me, and a source of great joy, to be able to pass on my own experience again and again in my role as a midwife at the birthing centre. I want to help ensure that this service continues to be available.
